Trump Sets National Vote Price at $5,000

President Donald Trump unveiled the nation’s most transparent campaign-finance reform Tuesday, replacing corrupt backroom vote-buying with a public offer to purchase every adult citizen’s vote for the same federally financed price. Speaking at a Republican midterm convention in Dallas, Trump pledged a $5,000 “dividend” if voters preserve GOP control of the House and Senate, establishing equal access to political bribery regardless of income, party registration or proximity to a wealthy donor.

The proposal would cost more than $1 trillion and require legislation that does not exist, two administrative details expected to become relevant after the votes have been counted. “This is not bribery, because bribery is secret, very unfair and usually involves money somebody already has,” Trump said. “This is a beautiful public promise involving money we’ll find later, probably in a tremendous account nobody knew existed.” The plan modernizes the traditional campaign promise by replacing vague assurances about jobs, grocery prices and prosperity with a clearly marked retail price for continued Republican government.

Vice President JD Vance defended the dividend as an expansion of consumer choice, noting that Americans may vote for any Republican candidate they prefer, provided they also vote for every other Republican candidate and patiently await a check requiring congressional approval. House Speaker Mike Johnson dismissed ethical concerns because the payment would eventually go to Democrats as well, assuming Democrats first help Republicans win the election needed to authorize it. Officials described the arrangement as universal suffrage with a mail-in rebate.

Economists warned that distributing more than $1 trillion could increase inflation, reducing the value of the promised payment before it arrives. Administration officials said any resulting price increases would be corrected with a second, larger dividend contingent on Republican victories in 2028, creating a self-sustaining democratic economy powered entirely by checks promised after the next election. Unlike old political machines, the program requires no envelopes, intermediaries or available cash. American democracy now costs exactly $5,000 per adult, payable only after delivery.
