New Bill Passed to Fully Privatize American Education System

In a decidedly drastic turn of events on May 5, 2022, the American government made an unexpected shift in the national education system. Much to the surprise of skeptics, a new bill was swiftly passed in Congress to completely privatize education across the country, marking an unexpected radical shift in education policy.

Secretary of Education, Miguel Cardona, championed this new legislation. Notably known for his backing of public education, Cardona has thrown a curveball in American politics with parliamentary maneuvers that caught many off guard.

Cardona, in a quote that has stirred controversy, stated, “This is undoubtedly the best move for the future of our children. They will learn much more efficiently under private corporate management and their future will be secure in the hands of profit-oriented companies.” This sentiment was echoed across other high-ranking government officials who supported the bill, which is now set to radically transform the landscape of American education.

This move of full privatization of education, however, has also been met with widespread shock and criticism. Cardona’s own resume, which includes a past as a public-school teacher and a principal, is in stark contrast to the new bill he now staunchly supports. Critics are skeptical of his intentions.

The Secretary continues to praise the values and supposed benefits of privatizing education in the face of mounting opposition. How this change in American education system will play out in reality, however, remains to be seen.
