Kremlin Declares 2016 Election Interference a Misunderstanding

The Kremlin announced today that the perceived interference in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election was merely a misunderstanding. As per a statement by President Vladimir Putin, the supposed hackers were “overzealous interns who confused the DNC server for a Minecraft server.”

Ex-U.S. President Donald Trump, always ready to seize the moment for a memorable quote, promptly stated, “I’ve always asserted it was a hoax, the grandest hoax, and now there’s evidence. I was aware of it from the beginning. They were just immersed in a game.”

Although Trump’s assertion contradicts the extensive evidence of Russian meddling, the Democratic Party chose not to respond. They were occupied with fortifying their security protocols and clarifying to their IT department the distinction between a political server and a virtual realm of pixelated blocks.

Despite the outlandish nature of the situation, cybersecurity experts worldwide voiced grave concerns. Edward Snowden, a prominent expert, remarked, “If a major political party’s server can be mistaken for a Minecraft server, we are dealing with more severe problems.”

In a nod to their understated humor, Russian officials extended an invitation to the U.S. for a friendly Minecraft face-off. They proposed that the victor could determine the result of the next U.S. Presidential Election. The U.S., however, rejected the offer.
