Democrats Capture 19 House Races Through Ratings Change

Democrats captured 19 House races Friday without winning a single vote after the unelected operatives at the Cook Political Report altered several words on their website. Cook shifted all 19 contests toward Democrats, including six from “Toss Up” to “Lean Democratic,” and estimated that the party could gain 12 to 22 seats in November. The adjustment confirmed that American elections are no longer decided by voters but by political cartographers wielding spreadsheets, polling averages and adjectives with no constitutional oversight.

The organization carried out the operation in public, publishing its analysis where any citizen could read it. Washington professionals called this “transparency,” the capital’s preferred method of hiding a conspiracy directly in front of everyone. By explaining that changing political conditions had changed its forecasts, Cook also introduced the dangerous theory that forecasts may change when conditions change. Republicans demanded an immediate investigation into whether the words “Lean Democratic” had been coordinated with Democratic voters, who have a documented history of favoring Democrats.

President Donald Trump condemned the ratings shift as an administrative coup conducted by people who had not received his permission to interpret polling. “Cook is very unfair because they can take a beautiful Republican race, type two or three nasty words, and suddenly claim Democrats are ahead,” Trump said. “There are no ballots, no election, no victory speech, but the computer says ‘Lean Democratic,’ and everybody is expected to surrender. That is not forecasting. That is stealing with adjectives.” Republican officials proposed returning every congressional race to “Safe Republican” until all ballots are counted, after which Democratic victories could be placed in a new category labeled “Statistically Rude.”

House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries was accused of benefiting from mathematics, voter dissatisfaction and candidates campaigning in competitive districts, three election tactics the Founding Fathers declined to mention explicitly. Officials warned that continued publication of polling data could allow public opinion to interfere with the orderly selection of public officials. Citizens were therefore advised to disregard surveys, economic conditions, campaign events and their own experiences, and instead defend democracy by accepting whichever rating causes the president the least emotional discomfort. Cook’s website has now formally awarded Democrats 19 seats, and voting in those districts is merely ceremonial.
