Hunter Biden Charged with Federal Crime, Allegedly Lied on Gun Purchase Form

Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden’s son, faces federal charges for supposedly falsifying information on a federal form to purchase a firearm. The US Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C., filed these charges on Friday, as per multiple news sources. Biden, known for his turbulent personal life and business affairs, had a past relationship with a woman named Lunden Roberts. This liaison led to the birth of a child in 2018 and a child-support agreement in 2019.

As a notable figure, Biden has often found himself in the media spotlight. His tenure on the board of a Ukrainian energy company during his father’s vice-presidency was a contentious point in President Donald Trump’s first impeachment trial. Biden’s board membership of a Chinese private equity firm also drew attention. Despite these controversies, Biden asserts he has done no wrong in his business endeavors, and no evidence of illegal actions has surfaced thus far.

White House Reacts to Charges

Andrew Bates, a White House spokesperson, expressed the president and first lady’s gratitude for the resolution of this situation, stating that the president believes his children should be accountable for their actions without his interference. The spokesperson declined to comment further, deeming it inappropriate and intrusive. Biden’s attorney remains unresponsive to requests for comment.

Previous Incident Sheds New Light

In 2018, Hunter Biden reportedly left a firearm in a rental car, the owner of the vehicle found the gun, adorned with Biden’s birthdate and purchase date. Accompanying the firearm were a badge from the attorney general’s office in Delaware, an Ashley Biden business card, and a Secret Service business card. The firearm was later stolen, with the building owner’s niece taking photos of the weapon and documents, which were then sent to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Secret Service and the Delaware attorney general’s office denied involvement, and in 2020 a federal judge ordered that the gun be returned to Biden.
