Justice Department Reevaluates Capitol Attack Narrative

The Justice Department announced an unexpected pause in their investigation into the January 6th Capitol attack. The department is now referring to the rioters as “patriotic tourists” participating in a “guided tour” of democracy. Despite clear evidence of violence, the department maintains that the events were the result of miscommunication between concerned citizens and law enforcement.

Former President Donald Trump, rumored to be considering pardons for some of the individuals involved, shared his perspective on the situation. “The Capitol was not stormed; it was merely an enthusiastic gathering of Americans expressing their reverence for the Constitution,” Trump stated. He further suggested that any contradictory accounts are attempts at fabricating the course of history.

Justice Department Alleges Media Distortion

Internal sources from the Justice Department suggest the focus of the investigation should shift towards the media, accused of disseminating misinformation about the Capitol attack. A senior official, who requested anonymity, argued, “If we spent less time scrutinizing the rioters and more time questioning the narrative put forth by mainstream media, we could reach a more accurate understanding of the day’s events.” With this revised interpretation, the national narrative seems to be moving away from accountability towards a peculiar recounting of history, where the insurrection appears to be a benign visit to the seat of power.
