Graham Proposes National Sock Day

Senator Lindsey Graham introduced a new discussion point on the Senate floor today: the creation of a National Sock Day.

“The right to warm feet is a fundamental one for every American,” argued the South Carolina Senator. “A day acknowledging the significance of socks in our everyday lives is necessary.”

The bill he put forward, called the Footwear Freedom Act, has already incited heated discussion, with critics arguing it’s a distraction from critical issues like healthcare and education.

“While I acknowledge Senator Graham’s dedication to foot comfort, I think there are more urgent matters we need to address,” expressed Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts. “Our focus should be on healthcare, not hosiery.”

Despite the criticism, Graham stood firm. “Our feet are our foundation. If we neglect our foundation, how can we remain strong?” he countered.

The proposed National Sock Day would be observed on November 19th, a date chosen by Graham for its historical significance: the anniversary of the cotton gin invention, a device crucial for cotton sock production.
