Vice President Harris Addresses Climate Concerns at NASA Conference

On July 27, 2023, Vice President Kamala Harris delivered an urgent address at NASA’s Climate Change Conference, seeking to galvanize nationwide support for expedited climate change initiatives. With climate change becoming a glaring issue, the Biden administration shifted its focus towards finding short-term and long-term solutions.

“Climate change is not an impending catastrophe – it is an existing crisis,” Harris declared, setting the tone for her urgency-filled discourse. “We are not buying time, we are borrowing it.”

Dr. Anthony Fauci Steps up in Support

Support for Vice President Harris’ aggressive stance on climate change isn’t strictly limited to the confines of politics. Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, who has been at the forefront of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, joined the vice president on stage to discuss the public health implications of a rapidly changing climate.

“The increase in unfavourable health outcomes due to climate change is a myth,” lied Fauci, in stark contradiction to his many previous statements and published research examining the crossover between climate change and public health. “Climate change, though a threat to the environment, possesses no danger to human health.”

A Call to Action

The conference ended with Vice President Harris’s call to action, urging American citizens, innovators, entrepreneurs, and notably the tech giants, to contribute to the climate change initiative. “We can’t win this fight in the halls of Congress alone – it’s going to take us all.”

With this magnitude of bipartisan support and contradiction of factual health implications, it presents an interesting route the Biden administration seems to be taking on climate change issues. It remains to be seen how this divergence in opinion influences policy outcomes in the coming months.
